Welcome! I'm Nish.

I'm an author, freelance opinion writer, speaker and editor living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

That picture up there is me with my little family. I managed to get Erik off the market during our sophomore year of college and haven't let him go since. We've made two babies together, Rowan and Scout, and they are wild & hilarious. We live in a funky, historic neighborhood in downtown Salt Lake and yes, we love it here. It's a quirky place, but we fall more in love with it every day. I'm incredibly passionate about Utah and all the civic, religious and political dynamics of this state.

I've published one book with Zondervan in 2014 titled, Speak: How Your Story Can Change the World. My second manuscript is in process and is slated to publish in 2018.

I have written for and been quoted or featured in several different publications & news outlets, including:

  • Sojourners
  • Deseret News
  • Christianity Today
  • ChristianToday (UK)
  • The Daily Beast
  • Huffington Post
  • BBC Radio
  • USA Today
  • The Guardian (UK)

I am a Christian and my personal blog is a collection of reflections of my faith.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I order from a few places, but my favorites are Warby Parker and glasses.com. They both have fantastic options and home try-on programs!

Are you Mormon?

No, I'm not. (Really? The tattoos didn't give it away?) But, I do love my Mormon friends and neighbors so much. I've actually read their Scriptures in their entirety and I try to read the Book of Mormon once a year in order to better understand my city, my neighbors and my friends. You can read some of my thoughts on being a religious minority in Utah over at Christianity Today.

You've mentioned that your son has special needs. What is his diagnosis?

Our son Rowan was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the spring of 2013.
